To dry and store cereals at Tyne Dock you are asked to purchase space in our silo. You will purchase space for all your harvest or as most do a portion of your crop. The current value of our space is £45.00 per tonne and is called a qualification loan.

Qualification loans do appreciate in value, our original loans in 1983 were £19.00 per tonne. Loans are also tradable if a change in farming policy occurs.

Members are allowed to deliver tonnages in excess of bought space. This grain will be sold at harvest time and the only exception to this would be in a case when the silo had free space. Members would be alerted to this and given the option to rent this space at an annual charge.

Joining Tynegrain allows you to join one of the largest buying groups in the UK. We purchase seed and fertiliser at optimum times during the season. The discounts we achieve for you far outweigh any individuals pricing power. This is a voluntary scheme and is at no extra charge.

Tynegrain does have an independant agronomist for members’ use. Agronomy services include crop walking, rotational advice and bulk purchasing of chemicals. Agronomy charges are available by phoning the Tynegrain office.

Cereals can be dried and stored at Tynegrain without becoming a member but we emphasise that this can only be done if free space allows. Drying only will be offered otherwise. Non member drying incurs higher charges than full members and offers no other members’ privileges.
